Audience

Generally speaking, our film would appeal to quite a niche audience. A main reason for this being that it is a short film, and shorts are not often popular amongst a main stream audience. Although it would be easily accessible by being distributed online, it is still likely that mainstream audiences would take interest. However, the online availability may broaden the audience slightly.

Gender:

The protagonist in our film is male, however I do not feel as though this would be a factor in making for a more male audience. Our film would easily appeal to both males and females equally. There are no gender related themes explored and no offensive themes/messages included that would likely discourage either gender. 

Religion 

There is no mention of any religion what so ever in our film. Our film's protagonist does not have a stated religion either so this would neither encourage nor discourage viewers of any religion. Also, there are no themes that may offend any religions directly so there should not be any discouragement towards any religion. 

Ethnicity

Similarly to the religion aspect of our audience, there would be no intended encouragement or discouragement towards any ethnic background. We have not yet specified the ethnicity of our main character so this would not be a factor in appealing to any particular ethnic groups. There are also no themes that would be considered racist or offensive towards any ethnic groups.

We hope for our film to appeal to all religions and ethnicities and to both genders. We aim to do this by not including any specific themes relating to these aspects and to not include anything that may offend.

Age

As our film has been issued with a 15 Certificate, we would not necessarily aim to appeal to anyone younger than 15. I feel that anyone aged 15 and above would be a suitable audience member in terms of purely age. I do not feel as though there is anything about our film that appeal nor be unappealing to any particular age range.

Audience Taste

This would be the largest factor in specifying our audience. The film-noir genre is not something that is considered mainstream and would not appeal to a large amount of people. Although we are only adopting the visual style of film-noir and not the genre/stories, it would still appeal to more people who are inclined towards the genre. People who enjoy both classic noir and neo-noir would be a large percentage of our audience. 

Moreover, our film would appeal to those who like the mystery and psychological thriller genres. Although we do not consider our film to be entirely conventional of a psychological thriller, it still follows the main themes and would still appeal to that particular audience. 

We hope to include a very very subtle surrealist tone, this would also appeal to some people who enjoy surrealist films, but any surrealism in our film would not be overtly portrayed.
