It is/has been raining. A
young man stands atop a multilevel car park at night, staring firmly at
the skyline and smoking a cigarrette. A gentle wind passes causing his hair to flick. Stanley peers downwards, he closes his
eyes. After a few moments his eyes open and he is sat in his
apartment/a hotel room at his computer desk. A digital clock reading "00:15" sits to
his right, next to neatly arranged stationary and ornaments. After
looking at the clock for a second he stares back at his computer
vacantly. A few moments pass and he looks back at the clock, it now
reads "01:42". Stanley rubs his face and resumes staring blankly
at the screen. A hooded figure is stood on top of the car park, they
both stare at each other but neither person appears phased by the other;
they do not move or speak. A dead body is sprawled in the middle of them. The silence is interrupted by the crashing
of the keyboard that Stanley throws at the clock.
The phone on his desk rings, but when Stanley answers there is no one on the other line, just dead air. Becoming somewhat panicked he drops the phone into a glass of water. He makes his way to the bathroom in quite a clumsy manor. After running the cold tap and splashing his face a few times he begins to stare at himself in the mirror. The hooded figure appears behind him in the
reflection. Stanley asks "What are you doing here?", the figure leaves the bathroom doorway. Stanley rushes out after him but he is no longer in the apartment.
He searches every room and looks out of the window, but he is nowhere
to be found. After his search he returns to his desk and puts his
keyboard back and turns his clock upright; it now reads "00:15" again. Stanley
ponders
the time for a moment but does not indulge in his puzzlement. He
continues writing and appears to making some low level progress.
On top of the car park, Stanley tries to talk to the hooded figure but simply stutters, "I...I...I...I...", in something of a rythm. The sound of Stanley pressing the 'I' key on his keyboard adopts the same rythm as his stutter. He abruptly stands up from his desk, knocking the various arrangements over as he does so. He heads to a door at the opposite end of his apartment, he enters it and finds himself in the bathroom again (possibly could change). As he looks in the mirror, writing appears around his reflection for a second. He embraces the nonsense for a momentand continues to scream and punch the mirror causing it to crack/shatter.
The following moments that pass consist of Stanley getting very stressed and acting out somewhat questionable behaviour. The clock now reads "13:00". He begins to completely wreck the room, this leads up to him throwing the computer across the room. As he approaches the computer from afar, (extremely fast paced parallel editing would be used in this particular moment), he approaches the edge of the car park. He reaches the computer , and crouches down; he is now on the small wall atop the car park again, he steps forwards.
End credits role.
(POSSIBLE POST CREDIT SCENE): A quick shot of Stanley removing his novel from a printer.
