Noir Style

Overall, our film will be of the psychological thriller genre, however, we do not intend for it to be entirely conventional. Plot-wise, it conforms entirely to the genre as it explores mental decline and the effects of the matter. But in terms of iconography, tone, cinematography and other aspects, it will not always suit the psychological thriller genre.

Importantly, we have chosen to make our film have a Noir style. The plot and characters will NOT necessarily be of the Noir genre, but the cinematographic elements of the film will employ the style. The camera angles, lighting, filter (possibly) and editing elements will adopt a very Noir look. Although it may seem questionable coupling the Noir style with a modern setting, we hope this juxtaposition creates for a more interesting look and a great opportunity to experiment. Moreover, films such as Sin City (see below) have taken on the modern-Noir look and have been extremely successful.

Also, in the film Killer's Kiss (see below) the shots have something of a bleak tone, which is also something we aim to produce.
