Story Idea 1

Story Idea 1

The story follows a young man who is working on a novel in his apartment in the early hours of a morning (around 1 am). As his story progresses he develops Writer's Block and his infatuation with his story takes a toll on his perception of reality. The mental strain on him causes issues such as hallucinations, distorted perception of time and physics, and physical problems.

Rough Plot:
A young man stands atop a multilevel car park at night, staring firmly at the skyline. A gentle wind passes causing his hair to flick. He climbs up the small wall in front of him and peers downwards, he closes his eyes. After a few moments his eyes open and [protagonist] is sat in his apartment at his computer desk. A digital clock reading "00:15" sits to his right, next to neatly arranged stationary and ornaments. After looking at the clock for a second he stares back at his computer vacantly. A few moments pass and he looks back at the clock, it now reads "01:42". [Protagonist] rubs his face and resumes staring blankly at the screen. A hooded figure is stood on top of the car park, they both stare at each other but neither person appears phased by the other; they do not move or speak. The silence is interrupted by the crashing of the keyboard that [protagonist] throws at the clock.

He takes a minute to compose himself and makes his way to the bathroom. He runs the cold tap and splashes his face a few times before staring at himself in the mirror. The hooded figure appears behind him in the reflection. [Protagonist] asks "What are you doing here?", to which the hooded figure replies "I am not" and leaves the bathroom doorway. [Protagonist] rushes out after him but he is no longer in the apartment. He searches every room and looks out of the window, but he is nowhere to be found. After his search he returns to his desk and puts his keyboard back and turns his clock upright; it now reads "00:15" again. [Protagonist] ponders the time for a moment but does not indulge in his puzzlement. He continues writing and appears to making some low level progress.

Now running up to the top level of the car park, [protagonist] turns around and shouts in to thin air "I can't, I can't do it!". [Protagonist] abruptly stands up from his desk, knocking the various arrangements as he does so. He heads to a door at the opposite end of his apartment, he enters it and finds himself in the bathroom again. After taking a marker pen from his pocket he begins scribbling arbitrary sentences and drawings on the mirror around himself. He embraces the nonsense for a minute and continues to scream and  punch the mirror causing it to crack/shatter.

The following moments that pass consist of [protagonist] getting very stressed and acting out somewhat questionable behaviour. The clock now reads "13:00" and begins going backwards (12:59, 12:58, 12:57 etc.). He begins to completely wreck the room, this leads up to him throwing the computer across the room. As he approaches the computer from afar, (extremely fast paced parallel editing would be used in this particular moment), he approaches the edge of the car park. He reaches the computer displaying the time "00:20", and crouches down; he is now on the small wall atop the car park again, he steps forwards.
